Just finished reading East of Eden, by John Steinbeck. It’s a good, short book and even though it doesn’t expand much on the characters in terms of word count, they’re pretty relatable to. Cathy is disgusting and evil, but ends up pitiable. The recurring nature of the Trask line is tragic and darkly hilarious. Also, it shows that blood does not make a person; the choices (or lack thereof) they make define them and that love is cruel as well as beautiful.
